“Live am See” is an annual series of open-air concerts directly at the Hennesee lake in Meschede. On a small scale and with a great atmosphere interesting bands play in a cool location. 1st July 2017 was one of these days again.
Luckily, the rain that had lasted for almost the entire day stopped just before the bands started to play. First band were CRYSTAL SODA CREAM from Vienna with a nice mixture of Indie and Post Punk with lyrics in English and German. I was quite impressed by drummer Theresa who played the keyboards as well, at the same time. The middle part was done by THE SOCIETY, the only legitimate successor to the legendary THE DANSE SOCIETY – because the band that went to court so secure the old name now doesn’t have much in common with the original any more. But the new name didn’t affect the great gig: old classics like “Danse / Move”, “Clock”, “Heaven is Waiting” and for the first time, as an encore, “We’re So Happy” were delivered in excellent quality. The band worked, the audience was happy – that’s how it should be. The night’s headliner band were THE BOLLOCK BROTHERS who play here every year. And as always, this band was great fun to see on stage.
Conclusion: 3 great bands in a beautiful location – and all this for free! It’s great to see that there are still idealists who orgenise things like this – and of course I gladly put 10 Euros in the hat!
